KidzfACTory Student Scher Guzzo To Attend Tony Awards

05.27.2009

Scher Guzzo got invited as a Camp Broadway alumni to attend the Tony Awards in NYC on June 7th at Radio City Music Hall. She will have a pre dinner with "famous" and important guests. She will walk the red carpet before the event!  "A once in a lifetime star-studded event", said Lisa Poelle, Camp Broadway, CEO.  Attending Alumnis will celebrate and experience the biggest night on Broadway!

Scher will be wearing a hot pink strapless dress and Jimmy Choo shoes.  CBS will broadcast the event.

"Unfortunately, I am not invited to the dinner, or the show.  I'm flying her there, handing her off and picking her up after the event. She is thrilled.  We were supposed to go on a fieldtrip to Orlando with the Cambridge group at her school which got canceled right away!  said Donna Guzzo, mother.

"I really want to meet Dolly Parton.  Word has it, she'll be there! May be I get to see a Broadway show too. This is perfect timing to shop for a Father's Day gift." said Scher.

The stars she'll meet are the nominees for the Tony awards, producers and directors.  There will be many other celebrities in attendance.  Mom will be playing paparazzi outside Radio City Music Hall where the Tony Awards will be hosted.

Scher has performed in the annual Thanksgiving Macy's Day Parade (2007), opening act and finale. She performed at Carnegie Hall for the 25th anniversary of the NY Symphony Orchestra Pops, Ronald McDonald House fundraiser (spring of 2008), and sang at Carnegie Hall a second time during the International Children's Chorus (summer 2008) with the Jacksonville Children's Chorus.  She's been performing annually in Camp Broadway shows since 2006.

Most recently, Scher has performed in five Limelight theater productions, (she played Annie, December 2008), and several dance, theater and vocal productions from her school, including singing at Universal with her school advanced choir.

"What I love most about acting is when I become the character and play it to its fullest potential. When I can sing relaxed, warmed up and ready to feel the lyrics of the song, when I can freely dance to express my feelings".  I am very grateful to attend a school of the arts.  I am thankful our school district did not cut the arts program during budget cuts." said Scher.  "Attending the Tony Awards is a great opportunity for me.  I'm really looking forward to it.  Every time, I am in New York City, I feel the energy, I love the people, the food, the subways, the taxi madness, the shows, and the bling!” said Scher.

Scher currently attends Murray Middle School Center for the Arts.  She is enrolled in dancing, drama and singing. She is in the Cambridge gifted program.  Her hobbies are writing songs, writing books, reading and traveling.  Favorite traveling spots: NYC, Hawaii, Spain and is looking forward to a trip to Paris during the summer.
