Limelight Announces Auditions For The Miracle Worker

The Limelight Theatre announces auditions for The Miracle Worker by William Gibson on Saturday, January 31 at 10:00 am. with callbacks on Sunday, February 1 at 6:00 pm.   Auditionees should prepare a one minute monologue and be prepared to do readings from the script.

The Miracle Worker is the story of Helen Keller growing up in early-20th century Alabama. Surrounded by her mother and father, half-brother, aunt and African-American housekeeper, Helen is separated from the rest of the world until Anne Sullivan comes from Boston to be her teacher. Anne leaves behind her own students and doctors -- and her past -- to help bring about a "miracle."

Lidh is seeking 5 principal women:  one aged 20 - 30, one aged 10 - 15, one aged 25 - 40, one aged 40 - 60 and one African American aged 30 - 50.  Four principal men will be cast:  one aged 35 - 45, one aged 14 - 18 and two aged 40 - 70.  The script also calls for three to six children aged 10 - 18 and African American children are encouraged to audition for these roles.
