St. Augustine Fl- The Limelight Theatre is introducing their new Saturday Series this month. The Saturday Series offers live entertainment for children, families and kids of all ages. They are kicking things off with “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown”, showing every Saturday in April at 10:30 am. This is a great opportunity for families to enjoy local arts and culture as an alternative to morning TV or the dreaded lawn mower.
Kate Messenger, the children’s theatre coordinator at The Limelight says, “ This is just the beginning. We hope to offer many more shows and programs in the future. The really interesting part is that local students are acting in the shows and getting involved. It’s a great way to contribute to the community, no matter what your age may be.”
“Ms. Kate” as her students like to call her, has been working diligently to boost young peoples awareness of opportunities at the Limelight. She teaches an outreach drama class every Wednesday at Southwoods Elementary, in addition to organizing shows and events and visiting schools. “My door is always open and I love to hear suggestions from parents, teachers, and community members. It’s so much fun to visit the schools and meet students,” says Kate. She will be holding auditions for the next children’s show titled “Holka Polka” on Tues. April 8th. The theatre also offers spring break and summer camp programs for ages 6-14.
